Privacy Policy

WasteLess ("we", "our", "the app") is a receipt-scanning and meal-planning iOS app published by Porchswing Technology & Senior Services LLC. This policy describes what data the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. We try to keep this honest and short.

No accounts

WasteLess has no accounts or login. We never ask for your name, email address, or any other identifying information, and nothing you do in the app is tied to an identity on our side.

What stays on your device

Your pantry, meal plans, saved recipes, dietary preferences, allergies, and waste-tracking history are stored on your device. Your free-tier usage count is kept there too. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

What leaves your device, and why

• Photos you scan: receipt and pantry photos are sent to our server so an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) can read the items in them. They are processed as the request is handled and are not stored.
• Recipe requests: when you generate a meal plan, swap a meal, or ask for a dish, the names of your pantry items and your dietary preferences and allergies are sent to our server to find matching recipes. They are used for that request only and are not stored.
• Network information: like any web service, our server and our hosting provider see your IP address when the app contacts them. We use it only to deliver the response and to limit abuse (a daily cap on requests from one address). We don't use it to identify you. Our hosting provider's standard request logs may keep it for a limited time.

Subscriptions

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Your subscription status is checked on your device with Apple's StoreKit. Neither our server nor we ever see your payment details or your Apple Account.

Who we share it with

• Anthropic: scanned photos, and pantry item names and preferences when a recipe is generated by AI, are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
• Spoonacular: pantry item names and dietary filters are sent to Spoonacular to search its recipe database. See Spoonacular's terms.
• Railway: our server is hosted on Railway, which processes requests to it on our behalf.
• Apple: in-app purchases and notifications go through Apple's standard iOS services.
• We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for marketing. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.

Notifications

Expiry reminders and meal-plan reminders are scheduled on your device. You can turn each one off in the app's Preferences, or turn off all notifications in iOS Settings.

Your choices

Because nothing is stored on our side and there are no accounts, there is no server-side data about you to access or delete. You can clear your pantry from Preferences, and deleting the app removes everything it stored. If you have a question about your data, email us at the address below.

Children

WasteLess is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
